I have been busy, all swept up in Julia Quinn’s Bridgerton series.
I’ve just got the last book left — Gregory Bridgerton. I’ve already started. I’ve found that I vaguely remember each story once I’ve started reading, but sometimes I remember better than others. If you don’t know already, the identity of Mrs. Whistledown is revealed to us in book 4 (Colin Bridgerton’s story), after which, each chapter starts with some flavour text but not in the form of a society scandal sheet (like Mrs. Whistledown’s paper).
I miss Mrs. Whistledown’s observations, and I think my favourite book was Romancing Mister Bridgerton — not for the romance, but for the characters of Eloise and especially Hyacinth. I also think it’s sad that we don’t get more of Francesca Bridgerton. She’s more quiet, compared to her siblings, and it’s a shame we don’t get more of her throughout the series.
I’ll have finished the series in a couple days, and I already had a huge back log of books to read, so I’ll be getting back into that! I might be reading more romances in the future (though they aren’t part of my overflowing shelves at this time, because we are trying to start up a romance book club at work, so if you enjoy romances, stay tuned!
And if you’re on the Bridgerton train — I’d love to hear your thoughts on the books vs. the show. Or any other thoughts you’d love to share about the Julia Quinn’s Bridgertons or Shonda Rhimes’ shows!!
